The end of the semester always means saying good bye to a lot of people and things. Here are a few of my goodbyes this time around....
1) My roommates- At least most will be back in the fall! I miss them already. At least I have two great ones for the summer session.
2) Ohio- Well, I never really said hello to Ohio this summer but I'm counting it as a goodbye because I'm growing up and staying in Idaho to work.
3) My 4.0- What a sad day! I got my first A-. I know, I know, I know. I can't complain about a 3.985 after four semesters but it's sad to see it go because it's never going back up. It can only go down from here.....
4) My Jerusalem Application- YES! This is one thing I'm ecstatic to see leave my care! My application to attend BYU Jerusalem in the winter is officially in the mail. Now I play the waiting game.
5) My old boss- If you've read my blog before you know I love my job and the people I work with. It's hard to say goodbye to the person who hired and trained me and has helped me so much with other random things (including editing my essays for #4).
6) My incredible lack of gym time- I went to the gym a grand total of once during the Spring semester. I am going to make the gym a habit this summer and say goodbye to the little extra Abigail that came from too much time in the library and kitchen.

A Tale of Three Workouts
1) Last Saturday I went to the gym and ran four miles. It took me 40 minutes but I did it and I felt good about myself. When Monday rolled around I guess I was still on a runners high so I decided to do another four miles...and loved every minute. Tuesday I was planning on doing just two miles but I passed the two mile mark and the three and did another four. Well, now I'm feeling pretty good about myself. I've done 12 miles in four days (although I didn't run on Sunday). I start doing some math in my head and figure out that if I do four miles every day this week I can do 24 miles in a week! That's almost a marathon. What a blog post that would be! Well my workout goals never go according to plan. Of course, I hurt my foot somehow and can't run today. But I did do 16 miles in four running days which is still more than I've ever done. I just wish my body would cooperate with me and let me run as long and as far as I want...
2) On Tuesday and Thursday I usually go to the gym with Jamie in the morning. After we do some type of cardio exercise we do weight machines and then sometimes an ab workout. Well last Tuesday we got our weights, walked to the mats and then started observing those around us. Have you ever seen the girls that go to the gym and never seem to really do anything? They grab a weight and do one thing and then change their mind and do something else and then give up and walk around for a bit before picking the weight up again. Or they get on a machine for a few minutes...but never long enough to actually break a sweat. It's like they go so they can say they go to the gym. Their loss I guess. After discussing this among other things, for about 10 minutes, we decided we would skip abs for the day and just head home. So we picked our weights up and walked them back to the rack...without ever doing anything with them. I laughed at the hypocrisy of the entire situation.
3) Yesterday I saw a girl at the gym wearing rain boots. Not only was she wearing rain boots, she had tall argyle socks on under them. Not only was she wearing rain boots with argyle socks, she had black lacy tights under her argyle socks. And of course, it wouldn't be honor code appropriate unless she had on the gray shirt and blue gym shorts. Seriously. Someone wanted to stand out at the gym.

Working out is fun?!?
Biked 14 miles. Ran 2.
Yup. That's what I did today at the gym. I've actually come to enjoy going to work out every day. On Saturday I biked 10, ran 3, and lifted weights for a bit (well, did weight machines....). The school has a "Lazyman Ironman Triathlon" going on right now where you have to run 26 miles, bike 112, and swim 2.7 during the month of February. I'm not exactly a swimmer but I decided to tackle the running and biking. As of the 21st I have run 24 and biked 78. For a while I gave up on the biking because I find it rather boring but I've decided that I should finish what I started.
Lauren introduced me to these science-y podcasts called RadioLab and they're very informative. I've decided that I can bike and run longer if I listen to them instead of music. Once I've listened to all of them I'm going to start listening to books. That way I'm actually learning while working out! I'm a genius sometimes.
I CAN TOUCH MY TOES (without bending my knees)!!!!
It's amazing how much more flexible I've become since I stretch after every workout. Doctors have been telling me for years that I need to have a daily stretching routine so that I can be more flexible since I'm pretty pathetic in that area. Now I know why. Doctors are kind of smart I guess....
I almost forgot I GOT NEW RUNNING SHOES. I had Asics GT-2140s (got them two Thanksgivings ago) and since I like them I decided to just get the newest version of them, the GT-2160s. It was so much easier at the shoe store because I already knew that I liked them so I tried a pair on for a quick test and then after calling my dad to check Amazon for any cheaper ones I bought them. I was in the store 10 minutes. It was beautiful.

Ow Ow Owww!
Today was a most excellent day. It started at 5:45 (the earliest I've been up in quite a while) with a trip to the temple. I feel so blessed to live within walking distance (though I never turn down a ride when it's cold like today!) of a temple. This semester I've been able to go a few times and I'm looking forward to going more and more.
At 9:00 I met Jamie (my roommate from last Spring) at the gym to play racquetball. She may have kicked my butt...four times. This is only the second time I've played with her and I managed to score 7 points against her one game! And another game I got the big ONE OH...minus the one.... Oops! But I really am getting better at the game and by the end of the semester I'll score at least 10.
We then ventured from the courts to the fitness center and lifted weights for 30 minutes. MY ABS ARE KILLING ME. Every time I move from a laying down position to sitting or standing I feel like I'm going to puke. I've done ab machines before but Jamie had me do a new one that really works your abs. I guess that's a good thing.
After walking home, showering, eating lunch, and getting ready for the day I headed out to have some fun at a film shoot!! YES, I got a part in a campus video from that audition I went to last week. (to read about it click here) It's nothing big, but it was a ton of fun. It's actually going to be part of a new student employee training video. I was the example of bad phone etiquette. And I have excellent phone etiquette at work so it definitely was a challenge!
Tonight's going to be a lonely night at the apartment for me. Alexis is back home babysitting, Lauren is at a retreat, Lindsey went to IF, and Brittany and Hillary are going on a double date. Oh well. Every once in a while I enjoy some time to myself to just relax and enjoy the absence of craziness. I would watch a movie but I can't ever seem to finish them anymore. I always fall asleep. Or get up and do something else. Whatever I do, I'll make sure it's awesome :)
